A Shopoholics Guide: Me and #mycalvins

Calvin's.

Calvin Klein's.

Yep, as if they don't get enough credit as it is, I'm dedicating an entire post to them. I'm sure they'll be stoked.

Last time I went to Perth I went into the city to go shopping with my friend, we wondered the inner city streets and shopping centers longing for the overpriced clothes hung on racks as far as the eye could see. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I spot what I've subconsciously been looking for the whole time- *sound effects*
Calvin Klein Underwear.
You know the ones I mean, those casual but cute set's that line your instagram feed. You admire them with envy for a few moments, then you keeping scrolling, and you move on because you know better than that and you prioritise how you spend your money.

Unless you're me.

I spent $50 on a Calvin Klein crop top. $50. 50 bucks. 50! Why? I have no idea. Well actually I do, because they're actually amazing. But that is not the point. The point is that I spent $50 on a grey crop top.  A grey crop top that Target probably sells for $5. But the grey crop top I bought has CALVIN KLEIN written on a band around the bottom. Bam. $50. As I grabbed them (actually now that I think about it it was probably more like how that monkey dude holds Simba of the cliff in The Lion King) off the rack I admired them immensely. My friend sighed. It was an unrealistic dream. And we both knew it. But then I had an idea. What if it wasn't an unrealistic dream?? What if I bought them?
"I'm going to try them on" I said.
"Seriously?"
"Seriously"
As I scanned the rack for my size I realised they didn't have it. "Eh" went through my head as I grabbed the next size up and tried them on anyway. They basically fitted. As I left the change room I was still contemplating wherever or not it was worth it. I came to the conclusion they're weren't. I regretfully put them back on the rack and walked away. It was the right thing to do. And I'm proud of that me.

I am not, however, proud of this me;

As we continued to meander through various shops I couldn't get them off my mind.
"we're going back"
"what"
"we're going back"
And then yeah long story short we went back and I bought them.

I don't know what I was expecting them to do. It's like I was expecting them to transform my life or something. Well they didn't. Not even close.

Do you know what's the worst thing though?? I don't regret buying them. How sad is that?? If I was to go back to that day I would still buy them, one size too big and all. Because still somewhere in my mind is some idolised image of Calvin's that society has so heavily impacted into my mind. They are literally a grey crop top with some letters at the bottom! And I'm willing to spend $50 on them!? I just think that's so ridiculous. I don't know how they do it. As mad as it makes me I feel like they deserve an award or something, "Best person at convincing people to buy worthless crap" like seriously congrats, that takes a lot of skills, but my bank account and I hate you :)

Lately

Hi!...
So its been a long time since I've posted... very long! So I kinda took an unintentional break from blogging over the past term/ term and a half because simply put I didn't have time! A very good friend of mine told me that you always have time, you just need to prioritise. Which when you think about it, is 100% true. I have time to go on my phone and scroll through pointless memes and statuses from people I don't even know. I have time to watch Australia's Next Top Model, and the Batchelorette twice a week, and I have time to lie on my bed staring at the ceiling simply pondering life. So basically over the past few months blogging hasn't been in my top priorities. This years school work has been a bit of a shock to the system, so when I'm not studying I'm to tired/lazy to do the things I actually enjoy. I think the most time consuming part of blogging, or for my blog that is, is physically taking photos. So for this next term you're more likely to see more written posts or posts that don't require me completely turning my bedroom upside down! I'm definitely going to try to post more often as it's something I really enjoy!

Over my break from blogging I had a lot of time to think. When I went back to my instagram I was like 'damn I've lost like 100 followers'. That was literally the first thing that went through my head. The second thing was 'so what??'. With this whole blogging thing it's easy to get into the 'views' 'followers' 'likes' side of things. And I realised that I totally forgot why I started blogging in the first place. It was never about how many views or followers I got, although it has been amazing to see my blog grow over the last year, and I love all my followers. Blogging was just suppose to be a creative outlet for me, something to do in my spare time. I got so caught up in how many people were following me, and me following trends and taking aesthetic pictures that other people took and that other people thought 'were cool'. It was always 'omg gotta post every week so people like me'-what?? So now I'm going to post whenever I want, what ever I want, because that's what it was suppose to be about from the get go!

Anyway- above is a little collage of some of the things that's happened over the few months that I've been absent! I've taken some inspiration from Mia over at Simply Mia, so credit to her for the idea! (pictures left to right, top to bottom)
